db2 username length 8 characters limit

Question posted by: parun (Guest) on July 28th, 2008 12:35 PM
Hello, is there a possibility to log on to a user whose length is greater
than 8 characters. My system is AIX and system base authentication . At
IBM I found this information:

Limit Windows Linux / UNIX
Group Name Length Up to 30 characters Up to 30 characters
User Name Length Up to 30 characters (1) (2) Up to 8 characters
Case Case insensitive Lowercase only

I have created a user system and I can login in the system, however, when
I login to db2:
su - db2inst1
db2 connect to bartest789 I DWECTRL user error:

SQL30082N Security processing failed with reason "24" ( "USERNAME AND / OR
PASSWORD INVALID "). SQLSTATE = 08001

, for example with user bartest I have no problem.
