Default Cannot access Tomcat 5.5 on Vista

I am trying to install Apache 2.2 and Tomcat 5.5 on a Vista system. I just downloaded the install files from Apache and did the standard install procedure. I can see "It Works" when I enter http://localhost but I do not get anything when I enter http://localhost:8080. Also, Tomcat does not stay in "Start" mode--I can start it in the "Services" window but as soon as I close the Services window it stops. If you can help me please e-mail me at sdstein7@yahoo.com. Thank you.

OK, by installing a more current version of Java I can see the Tomcat home page. Now my problem is finding my class files. They are in

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\cgi-bin\WEB-INF/classes

How do I get Apache/Tomcat to find and execute these files?
