Problem with my home page

Question posted by: renfri (Newbie) on May 13th, 2008 03:08 PM
I am learning Frontpage 2002 by teching myself. My employment had a very old website. I have created a new website to replace the old one. I published it. I am having a problem with the home page. When I check the files that are loaded it shows one index.htm file which is the new home page. When you go to the website it brings up the old home page. When you start clicking on the different pages, it will then bring up the right home page. When I look into the files I can't find the old index.htm file anywhere. When I published it I told it to replace any files with the newest one. Any help with this matter would be appreciated!! The website is www.hillcrestnh.org if you would like to see what I am talking about. Thanks!!!!!

Re: Problem with my home page
Firstly your index page is actually called Default.htm and not index.htm

I suggest copying the whole site to a folder in ur c drive and opening default and see if all the links are ok..... you have confused some names with others....

I just did what you said & I do not have a default.htm file. Do I need to rename my index.htm file accordingly? Thanks for your help!

OK here are the files:

departments.htm
employment.htm
features.htm
Foundation.htm
foundation btn.htm
index.htm
photo tour.htm

Then there are several files that have filename.htm_txt_photo.gif
There are also several jpeg files.

Is this what you needed?

Move all these into a new folder and upload the whole site again.

i think the three files

departments.htm
employment.htm
features.htm

have not been uploaded properly

Re: Problem with my home page
I moved all the files into a different folder & published all to replace what was already there & it came up the same way. Any ideas now? If I could see that default page could you delete it so the index.htm file would show up?

Re: Problem with my home page
as far as i could see the links to the department and employment pages refer to a file on your local drive (when the page is loaded via the features link) - just use relative references here ... the same goes for some other links as i see ... first: fix all links of that kind (that currently start with: file:///...)

kind regards
