We decided to root for a backup strategy using online incremental
backups which include the log files (avail since DB v8.2). Now I
wondered, if DB2 automtically deletes the archived logfiles after
executing of online backup using that option or if we still need to
remove them manually.

DB2 does not delete log files unless you tell it to. The last thing support
wants is you on the phone saying: The system ate my log files.

The option to include log files basically "copies" the log files that were
active from the start to the end of the backup into the backup images.
They are left in the log path. The last active log file when the backup
terminates is closed at its current size.
This will also cause it to archive if you are using either of DB2UEXT2 or
V8/9 LOGARCHMETH's.
If that is the case, the log files will be in the archive, the logpath and
also in the image.

Pierre, thanks for your answer.

I went for setting LOGARCHMETH1 to a dedicated path where the logfiles
will be activated on backup. So we have an easy solution to get the
archived logfiles on a different disk than the active ones, where they
can easily be deleted.
