Default Product license ? Run time client ?

Hello,

i need the odbc driver to connect to a remote db2 databse. I have
installed the IBM "run time client 8.2" which i have downloaded from
the ibm site. I install it and add a new Datasource with the "ODBC
system administrator" Tool in Windows (2000). When i then try to
connect to the remote db2 database it says the Product license is not
found.

Is the runtime client not free or i'am making something wrong ?

Thanks for help.

Could it be the license on the server?

The clients do not require a license when accessing DB2 LUW databases.
However, when accessing a DB2 z/OS or DB2 iSeries database, you need a
license for DB2 Connect (the DB2 Connect code is actually contained in the
Version 8 client) on your client.
