Default Keeping track number of users using an application

Hi,
I got a web based application. I need to keep track of number of users
coming to use this applcation on a daily basis. This application is read only
one. I have to veiw the traffic for a month. What is the best way to capture
this information. I appreciate any help or related article link. Thanks.
