Default Understanding Recordsets

I am reading a book (Beginning Access 2002 VBA) and I am having a problem
understanding the use of recordsets.

Can anyone explain the value of creating recordsets or how they are
practically used?

Also, any suggestions on other VBA training. This is a decent book but I
believe that I almost need a workbook with example problems and answers to
get more hands on training.

A recordset is the backbone of your forms and reports. The data
displayed in a form or report comes from a recordset.

If you are a beginner, I would recommend a StepByStep book on Access.

If you aren't willing to do the exercises this book is not worth buying.
Its not a book you simply read...to get any benefit you need to get
your hands dirty and do the examples. You get a decent foundation on
programming VBA. After that, hang out in this newsgroup and read the
threads.

Thanks, do you know any good ones for Excel VBA also. I'm very proficient in
Excel (more so than Access) but would like to incorporate VBA for Excel in my
skill set also.

Regarding a book, no. Look for the words Excel and VBA at Amazon or
barnes and noble. However, you might want to look at various sites at
http://www.mvps.org. Ex: one link at the site is http://orlando.mvps.org/
