Default SQL0351 when acccessing V7 from V8 client

We tried to select column text from syscat.views from a V7 database with
a V8 client. We got

SQL0351N An unsupported SQLTYPE was encountered in position "1" of the
output
SQLDA (select list). SQLSTATE=56084

In V7, text is a CLOB of size 64k, in V8 it is a CLOB of size 2M.

Bug or feature?

Regards,

I believe this is a documented incompatibility (there are CLOB issues
with V8 clients talking to V7 servers).

Just don't try it the other way around. V8 with the V7 client, crashes
the server (not the connection, but the server, DB comes up in an
inconsistant state) in certain cases (i found 4) via ODBC.
