Default Client Configuration Information

Hello All,

does anyone know, where the configuration of a db2-client on a
windows-machine is stored?
I searched the registry and the filesystem on my machine and couldn't find
anything.
Is there a file or a node in the registry, where all the information (like
port-number, db-name and so on) can be found.
Is there another place for this piece of information?

Thanks for Your help in advance!

Bye!
Oli

The database and node directories are stored in binary files in the DB2
installation directory.

You can view this information from the Configuration Assistant or
using the commands "list database directory" and "list node directory".

In WOndows, the path will be:
X:\SQLLIB\DB2\SQLDBDIR\sqldbdir (THis last is the filename).
X:\SQLLIB\DB2\SQLNODIR\sqlnodir

As Ian says, these are binary files. Do Not edit them as they may get
corrupted, and.......

Hello Ian,

thanks for Your help.
I was not able to find everything. I'm still looking which port-number I
have to configure.
Is there a possibility, that the port-number is not shown by the output of
the list commands You stated due to a security policy?

The situation is as follows:
We would like to set up a DB2-client to a DB2-server we do not know all the
connection parameters of.
There are already configured DB2-clients which act as a role-model for us.
Is there a simple way of copying the client-configuration from these
machines to the new one?

Thanks for Your help in advance!
Sorry to bother You again!

Bye!
Oli

Check out the section on client profiles in "Quick Beginnings for DB2
Clients."

Client profiles are used to configure database connections between DB2
clients and servers. A client profile is generated from a client using the
export function of the Configuration Assistant (CA) or by using the db2cfexp
command. The client profile is then imported onto othe clients.

The information contained in a client profile is determined during the
export process. Depending on the settings chosen, a client profile can
contain information such as the following:

- Database connection information (including CLI or ODBC settings).
- Client settings (including database manager configuration parameters and
DB2 registry variables).
- CLI or ODBC common parameters.
- Configuration data for the local NetBIOS communications subsystem.
