execute DB2 VSE operator commands from user program

Hi,
how can I execute an operator command (like SHOW DBSPACE...) from a
COBOL user-written program (in cics or batch environment), getting the
response in a communication area?
I'm working with VSE/ESA 2.6.0 and DB2 for VSE 7.3.
