Default Does component (.dll) have to be registered on server?

Is there a way I can use my custom dll just by placing it in the ASP folder
and not having to use regsvr32 to register it? I takes forever to get our
admins to do anything like this for us.

thanks

Default Re: Does component (.dll) have to be registered on server?

You do not have access to your server (like via Terminal Services or
something)? You could try doing it in ASP:

<%
Dim oShell
Set oShell = Server.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
oShell.Run "%%systemroot%\system32\regsvr32.exe D:\Path\file",0, False
Set oShell = Nothing
%>

If you have administrative rights, setup a non-anonymous directory and try
executing that...

If it is a COM object then it needs to be registered. If
you already have it registered and are only making a
change, as long as you keep compatibility (Binary Compat
in VB) then you can replace the DLL with the new one, but
you will need to stop IIS to do that.

MTS/COM+ also has a set of COM admin objects that you
could script from ASP to registered your DLL in MTS/COM+,
but that will probably need some kind of admin access.
