Default tomcat apache not working

Just loaded tomcat apache for the first time and I can't seem to get it to work.
Is there something special about my config that won't allow me to use tomcat?

vista business
jre 1.6.0_07
jdk 1.6.0_07
tomcat 6.0

thank you
Kevin
